Multichannel SPI Low-Side Power Switch
The Flex Multichannel Low Side Switches family for powertrain, safety and industrial applications is specially designed to drive a various range of loads from relays, injector valves, oxygen probe heater and general purpose solenoids, up to uni-polar stepper motors. All kinds of ohmic loads, but also inductive loads, which require an active discharge of the stored energy in the coil.
This clamping circuit is included as a standard in all Mulitswitch products.
So all inductive load are supported as Relays, injectors, solenoids, electromechanically switches or motors.
The IC automatically detects faults and switch off the related channel.
Such events can be triggered by over temperature, short circuits or over current.
In order to detect fault conditions and to be able to react on system level diagnosis functions are included in the ICs. The diagnosis function checks for many fault conditions
- Open load
- Short to Ground
- Short to Battery supply
- Over current
- Over temperature
Channels can be put in parallel to increase the current. However a sophisticated
central clamping structure is required that ensures a balanced clamping between the channels.
Such features are integrated in Infineon’s multi switch products and called CLAMPsafe.
